Back to Malaysia
On November 16th, Eta and I headed back to Malaysia for her scheduled total knee replacement surgery. As we did in October, we stayed in an apartment until it was time for Eta to check into the hospital, the day before her surgery. So, she was admitted on Nov. 19th, and went through all of the preliminary tests before getting ready for surgery the next day.
Her successful surgery was performed on the 20th and she was in the ward for observation overnight. The next day, I was able to stay in the room with Eta while she was in the hospital. I became her unofficial caretaker and was able to do some things for her that did not require a nurse. On Sunday afternoon, November 24th, she was able to leave the hospital and we checked in to the Sunway Sanctuary Hotel next door. This is a hotel that connected to the hospital and it makes it very convenient for Eta’s follow-up appointments without worrying about the weather or the traffic. Also, there is a small mall across the street from the hotel which includes a small grocery store. Nearby, there is a large mall called Sunway Pyramid. Eta has not been able to move around much, so we are worshiping on-line with English and Chinese congregations in the area.
As I mentioned in the last newsletter, we do not have insurance for this procedure, but it is much cheaper than the U.S. Also, Eta has received excellent care. The total cost will be upwards of US$14,000. We have had two families send small contributions to help with this cost. We are thankful for any help available from our brethren. We are scheduled to return to Indonesia on Dec. 13th. We continue to solicit your prayers for us.
In the next report, we will talk about the Taichung lectureship that will be conducted Dec. 6-8. I will be the last speaker and will preach on-line.

One change we are going to make when we return to the states next year is: we are going to try to rent a permanent place to live in Texas so that we will have a place to go back to when we are stateside. Completed Teaching Course @ Four Seas College – Chinese
On September 30th, I began teaching at Four Seas College – Chinese Dept. on the subject of “The Preacher and Missions.” This continued through November 20th. I taught on MWF from 9-11 AM to approximately eleven students.
