Closing Out 2024
As I mentioned in the last newsletter, we did not have insurance for Eta’s surgery, but it is much cheaper in Malaysia than the USA. Also, Eta received better care than is available in Indonesia, even though the cost is about the same. The total cost is upwards of US$14,000. We have had contributions from five brethren and the Schertz church to help with this cost. So far, over $6,000 has been given for this. We are thankful for this help from our brethren. We are trying to get Eta ready for the upcoming trip back to the states at the end of this month. We continue to solicit your prayers for us. She is continuing her physical therapy for three days a week.

Taichung Lectureship – 2024
Every year, the church in Taichung hosts a lectureship. Since the days of covid, most of those participating do so on-line. It had been our plan to attend, in person the lectureship for 2024. However, because of the need for Eta’s knee surgery, we also participated with brethren from all over Asia on the Zoom platform. Those speakers who took part were from Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, and the United States. The theme for the 2024 lectures was on the book of Ecclesiastes. This year’s lectureship was conducted Dec. 6-8.
Next year’s lectureship will be held from Dec. 5-7, 2025. There will be more speakers on the program next year with many of them being from China. We are thankful to brother and sister Yo and the brethren in Taichung for making this lectureship possible. Lord willing, Eta and I will make the trip in person next year.

After returning to Indonesia from Malaysia, we continued Eta rehab and recovery from surgery. I continue with my normal on-line classes and worship that keeps me busy. I preach in Chinese twice a month, speak at least once a month in an English class, and attend Four Seas College –Chinese chapel weekly, and about seven services in three different countries each week.
We depart for the states on Jan. 30th. We are scheduled to arrive just after midnight on Feb. 1st. One change we are going to make when we return to the states this year is: we are going to try to find and rent a permanent place to live in Texas so that we will have a place to go back to when we are stateside. We are praying that God, through His Providence, will help us to find a suitable, affordable place in the Schertz area. We continue to solicit your help and your prayers.
