September Events & Updates

  When we arrived in early September, we “hit the ground running.” I was in the midst of teaching three days a week at the Chinese school in Singapore, continuing to take part in all my regular classes and worship in Taiwan, Malaysia, and at Schertz.

  The third weekend in September, we made a weekend trip to Indiana to speak at Morgan St. in Martinsville and Clay City. While we were there, we were able to visit my brother and two sisters in law in Terre Haute.

It is now the month of October and we are still in the state of Texas for a few more weeks before heading back overseas.

  We are going to the Atlanta, Georgia area the weekend before we go back overseas to participate in the 53rd annual world mission forum at Forest Park, and to report to two congregations in Georgia and Tennessee.

  We are scheduled to depart the USA on October 24th. It is our plan to return to the USA on January 8th. We will visit Taiwan to teach in three congregations and a lectureship while there. More information will follow in the November report.

  Last month, I finished teaching the course on “The Preacher and His Work – Living the Christian Life. I had seventeen Chinese students to finish this course. Almost all of the students are from China. I taught this class for six hours a week.

Beginning on October 6th, I started teaching another course at Four Seas College – Chinese Dept. on the subject of Exodus – Leviticus. This will continue until the end of November. Once again, I have seventeen students taking this class.

Also, I am constantly preparing more material to use in my regular speaking appointments each month, both in English and Chinese.

  When we leave the USA on Oct. 24th, Jojo will be going back to Asia with us.

Upcoming Events

  Once we return to Asia, we will travel to Taiwan in December for about a half a month to speak in three congregations. The annual lectureship will take place in Taichung.

  One of the main things we will work on when we return to the states in January, 2026 will be to try to get Eta’s green card (permanent residence).

August Happenings

  We had another busy month in August. As usual I had my regular preaching schedule in Taichung and Malaysia. I speak every first Sunday in Taichung, every second Sunday in Malaysia, and at least once a month at the In-devo zoom class in Malaysia.

  We spent a lot of time on this overseas trip visiting doctors, clinics, labs, etc. (I guess that is just another sign of getting older!) Eta and I are certainly now back on the mend and doing pretty well. Eta and I both remember our mother’s birthdays in the month of August. My mother would have been 101 years old this year. Eta’s mom just passed away earlier this year. She would have been eighty-two this year.

  One of the main changes for August was starting to teach again at Four Seas College – Chinese online school. I am teaching the course on “The Preacher and His Work – Living the Christian Life. I have more than twenty students studying this course. Almost all of the students are from China. I teach this class for six hours a week. Also, I am constantly preparing more material to use in my regular speaking appointments each month.

  One thing we had to do in August was to leave the country in order to renew my thirty-day visa. So, we traveled to another country nearby in order to leave Indonesia then could come back to Indonesia and have my visa renewed for an additional thirty days. This would get me through until we leave for the states. While in the states, we will be working on getting an extended visa so that I do not have to do this again.

  By the time many of you read this, we will be on our way back to the states. We leave on Sept. 3rd. We will be in the states almost two months. We will depart for Indonesia again on Oct. 23rd. At that time, Jojo will be going back to Asia with us.

In Memory

  In the past few weeks, we have had several of our preaching brethren to pass away. Among them were: Wesley Simons, Ernest Underwood, James Boyd, and Alan Highers. They will be missed. There are others who have also already passed from this life. We have also learned of other brethren whose health have gone down in the past few weeks.

We continue to be thankful for all of your prayers and support as we strive to work among English and Chinese speaking people around the world. It is because of your support that we are able to continue our work among the Chinese people in Asia and other parts of the world. We could not do it without you. We are also thankful for the support and oversight given to our work by the elders at Schertz and the members there. They have been a big encouragement to us.
