The Month of June
There was still no overseas travel to be done
during the month of June as a result of the covid-19 virus. I did make one trip
to Florida to visit my youngest son and to also visit with the Mike Tubbs
family and the brethren at the College Road congregation. We are still in the
“waiting mode” for news about traveling overseas.
One thing I was able to do during this month
was to participate in Bible class and worship services overseas. Every
Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, I have been able to be a part of the Zoom
meetings of the Subang Jaya congregation in the Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia area. On
one occasion, I was asked to speak on the subject: “God Has Spoken and it is
Absolute.” I have offered to speak again sometime in the future if the
congregation decides to use me. My wife and daughters are also able to tune in
to these classes and worship from Indonesia. After all of the zoom meetings,
there have been opportunities for question and answer periods and also the
opportunity to have conversations with brethren. Brethren and friends have been
tuning in from both East and West Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, and the
United States. Even though we are not able to travel there, we are still able
to communicate face to face via the internet. It has been a great encouragement
since the shutdown of all international borders.
At the Chestnut Mountain congregation, we
have been meeting on Sunday morning since the first of June with continuing
zoom services on Sunday night and Wednesday night. We have now resumed Sunday
evening services and will resume Wednesday classes on July 22nd. In the
meantime, we will continue with the zoom class on Wednesday night. We also
broadcast our services on Facebook Live each week.
We are now in our fourth month of separation
from my Indonesian family. We do not have any idea when the restrictions will
be lifted to enable to travel back to Indonesia or any other Asian country. We
continue to solicit your prayers as we wait upon the Providence of God.
I will be speaking again at one of the Bible
study sessions for the Subang Jaya congregation in Malaysia. I have offered to
present lessons whenever they desire.
In Memory
During the month of June, two good friends of
mine passed away. In the state of Tennessee, Harry Lee Barnes passed away and
in the state of Texas, Chuck Horner suffered a stroke and passed away as well.
Harry Lee was a long-time deacon at the Leoni
Church of Christ in Woodbury, Tennessee. Chuck worked with World Video Bible
School for decades.
Both brethren will be dearly missed.

NOTE: My wife and I continue to watch the news from
both Indonesia, Malaysia, and other Asian countries to see when they will open
back up to foreigners. It is possible that some other country other than
Indonesia will open up first. If so, then my wife and I will make plans to meet
there and then to be of any help we can in the evangelism and edification of
the church in that location. We solicit your prayers.
