Taiwan Trip

I leave for Taiwan on November 27th to begin my 47th overseas mission trip since 1985. I am looking forward to seeing the brethren there again this year. I will be visiting the brethren in Taipei, Hualien, Taichung, Kaohsiung and Tainan.

Please pray for the efforts I will be making there in Taiwan. I am going to be taking some new Chinese DVD lessons to leave with the brethren to use in the future. It is because of your help and prayers we are able to make these kind of trips to encourage the brethren in these areas. I am scheduled to return to the states on December 17th.

PERTH, AUSTRALIA: “During my recent business trip to Sweden, I was privileged to meet with the saints in Stockholm. I am pleased to share the following with you all.

Our brethren now have found a meeting place in a primary school. They have use of 2 large rooms – 1 for worship and the other for Sunday school etc.

Bro George Opuku and another brother runs a free “taxi” service ferrying members and visitors from the subway station to the place of worship.

I was very happy to hear on my arrival that bro George and sis Gabrielle’s young daughter Jessiebelle Opuku was baptised into Christ last Aug. Bro George and others have been working hard teaching the visitors and last Sunday after worship  a lady Philomena and her husband Samuel Ankra made the decision to be baptised into our Lord’s church. I was very privileged last Sunday to witness the baptism of our dear sis Philomena in the dark and freezing sea water off Stockholm coast, the temperature was below 0° C but it was a time of rejoicing. For medical reasons, her husband could not take the freezing waters so he will be baptised in warmer pool next Sunday. It such a joy and blessing to have 3 souls added to the church there especially considering that they are such a small group.
Even though the primary language is Swedish – most people can speak English and the church service is in English

Last Sunday too was the first time sis Gabrielle started Sunday school lessons with 2 young kids (sis Philomena) and her son. They were indeed so excited and it was great to see the Sunday school kids’ drawings being posted up in the room.

Our prayers & support needed

Bro George and his wife Gabrielle was determined all these years to keep the light of our Lord’s church burning in Sweden especially in city of Stockholm. The church started in their small apartment and now has grown into meeting at a school hall. As I sat in worship with them last Sunday, I told bro George that I felt that they were no longer a tiny home church but growing congregation for our Lord.

Bro George and his wife Gabrielle both have secular jobs but they work very hard for our Lord, their love for the Lord’s church and His truth is indeed to be commended.

This small congregation in need of good teaching material (including Sunday school material) tracts, Lord Supper cups, song books and money to continue their evangelistic work.
Often we hear of evangelistic efforts in “developing” countries but indeed the need is just as great if not greater in reaching out to the lost in “developed” countries. If you are able to visit Sweden or if you know of Christians visiting Sweden – please encourage them to contact bro George and visit with the church there. Also, if your congregation has programs to support overseas evangelism effort then please consider this worthy cause. Sending gospel preachers and groups of missionary workers over for period of time would be such an encouragement to them.  Most important is that they need our encouragement and continual prayers. Please do write and encourage them in their work” – Joseph Lee. (NOTE: We are thankful for the report brother Lee sent this report. Stan Crowley will be visiting this congregation in the near future. Also, World Video Bible School has been sending this congregation many materials for years. JMG.)

SCHERTZ, TX:  “Thank you for this message.  I am now even more excited about visiting our brethren there ... and very glad that you included their note in your report so I had the opportunity to work them into my upcoming trip.  We are having our lectureship this week, so Christian Family Bookstore has a large display here in our building.  So, it was easy to pick up a few books to take for them.  I will also followup with WVBS to see if they have materials to send” – Stan Crowley. (NOTE: Stan will be making a number of stops during his trip. We will look forward to his report when he returns. JMG.)

It has been a couple of years since I updated the blog. I am going to try to start doing regular posts in the blog for those who do not get my report or are not my friends on Facebook.
