Activities During the Month of November

The month of November has been busy as usual. I have been keeping the same schedule as I have been for several weeks. Of course, because we were in the states during this time, I had to arrange my schedule to make sure I was able to take part in the various classes, services, and meetings in Asia.

Every month, I speak in Chinese on the first Sunday at the Taichung church in Taiwan. On the second Sunday, I preach in Chinese to the Section 17 congregation in Malaysia. Every Monday morning, we have chapel services at the Chinese Dept. of Four Seas College in Singapore. I also attend the Sunday morning Chinese worship service at the Boonlay congregation – online. On Tuesday night, I participate in the Subang Jaya Chinese class and help with questions and answers.

I attend and take part in the Wednesday night and Friday night English Bible classes at Subang Jaya (online) every week. When I am overseas, I also tune in to the Chestnut Mountain Bible classes and worship.

I am thankful for the opportunities that are available on-line.

Eta and I had the privilege to take part in the Schertz Lectureship in the state of Texas. The topic for this year was the book of Job. We both spoke on Monday. She spoke to the ladies’ class in the afternoon while I spoke at the evening service.

It was great to see many old friends and also to meet many new brethren at the lectureship this year. Thanks to the elders for arranging the program and all of the members who helped to make it a success. Thanks for the Schertz church making it possible for us to attend.

On the Friday after the lectures, we had the opportunity to visit the brethren at World Video Bible School in Maxwell, TX, and also to visit with Steve and Valerie Lloyd at the Southwest School of Bible Studies in Austin, TX.

Our Stateside Trip Comes to an End

It has been costly for the flights and the traveling we have done while in the states. If any congregations or members of the Church of Christ would like to help to defray these costs, it will be greatly appreciated. We have had several to help already. All contributions can be sent to: Grubb Mission Fund, P.O. Box 7450, Chestnut Mountain, GA 30502.

Because of covid, we have lost a great deal of support in the last year.

My wife and I express thanks for all of our financial supporters who enable us to continue to have a part in our efforts among the Chinese and Asian people.

May the Lord continue to bless these efforts to try to help spread the gospel among the Chinese-speaking people as well as others in Asia.

We are scheduled to return to Indonesia on November 24th. We are scheduled to return on Feb. 10th.

Post Script: Our Trip Back to Indonesia

We had an interesting and not totally enjoyable trip back to Indonesia.

I had booked our flights several weeks ahead of our flight. We were scheduled to have a 23 hour and 45 minute layover in Korea before going on to Indonesia. If you have more than a 24hour layover in Korea, you have to get a visa ahead of time. Delta changed our flight so that we would have a 24 hour and ten-minute layover in Korea.

I called Delta and talked to them about this. The agent along with his supervisor assured me the original times would apply and we would be able to get on the plane. NOTE: Do not depend upon this assurance!

When Eta and I arrived at the airport in Atlanta, we attempted to check in for our non-stop flight from ATL to ICN (Atlanta to Incheon/Korea). We were not allowed to do so. Finally, we were rebooked to fly through Detroit and then connect to Korea from there. We had to run to make the flight to Detroit. We made it! Then, we were got to Detroit, we had to run to catch our next flight to Korea. Fortunately, our gates were very near to each other and we were able to make it. After we got through that part of the trip, everything went well. We were treated very well in the Korean airport by the Korean Airlines ground staff. We were also able to take advantage of the Korean Airlines (KAL) lounge.

On the following day, we flew Korean Airlines to Jakarta and we were very well treated by the KAL staff. Kudos to all those who helped us to make all of our flights.

When we arrived in Jakarta, we had to go through a few stations to clear the health checks before going through immigration and customs. We then had to wait about forty minutes before the test results came back to allow us to proceed to our quarantine hotel. We were thankful we only had three days of quarantine. The day after we left quarantine, they increased it to seven days.

At first, we had trouble getting airline tickets back to Lampung, but finally were able to get them. We are glad to, because we considered taking the ferry across the strait between Java and Sumatra, but later learned high seas caused a lot of problems for the ferry ride.

We finally arrived safely in Lampung, six days after we left the USA. Thanks for all of your prayers on our behalf as we made this trip back to Indonesia.

Activities During the Month of October

Thankful for the opportunity to continue to have part in Bible classes and worship services in Taiwan, China, and Malaysia. I also tune in to services in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, and the United States. During the month of October, I finished up the testing for the Chinese class in First Corinthians. I will teach again in February 17th. I will be teaching on the subject of “Church History.”

I continue to have part in the Wed. night English class at the Subang Jaya congregation in Malaysia. Sometimes I teach the class and sometimes I serve as the convenor of the questions and answer sessions. I also help with questions and answers at the Tuesday night Chinese class at Subang Jaya.

Grateful for the privilege to preach in English to the Section 17 congregation on the last Sunday in October.

Also thankful for the opportunities available on-line.

Our Stateside Trip

After arriving in the states on Sept. 30th, Eta and I traveled to Lubbock, TX for the Southside Lectures. Soon after returning from Texas, Eta and I traveled to Missouri to visit friends and to attend Bible study at St. Peters Church of Christ. We then traveled to Terre Haute, Indiana to visit family, then on to Indianapolis to have dinner with our daughter-in-law and three of our grandchildren. On Oct. 17th, I had the privilege to speak at the Shelbyville Rd. congregation. Thanks to Ben and Lois Vick for their hospitality. On the way back to Georgia, we had the opportunity to visit the Ark Encounter.

We finished up the month of October by first visiting Eta’s cousin in The Villages, FL, then with Mike and Lydia Tubbs, and Frank and Betty Parker in Palatka, Florida. I also had the privilege to present a report of our work at the College Road congregation there.

It is costly for the flights and the traveling we are doing while in the states. If any congregations or members of the Church of Christ would like to help to defray these costs, it will be greatly appreciated.

We have had several to help already. All contributions can be sent to: Grubb Mission Fund, P.O. Box 7450, Chestnut Mountain, GA 30502.
