Update on Future Projects (Hopes for a Better New Year)

With the hope of a vaccine for Covid-19 on the horizon, we are hoping that I will be able to make a trip to Indonesia early in the New Year and even if we are not able to travel to some of the Asian countries, I will be able to use the internet to continue to do my teaching in Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, and China.

Every year, we have supporters who are no longer able to have a financial part in our work. The Covid-19 virus has also had a bad effect on our support. It is our hope and prayer that brethren can continue to support the work we are trying to do in the Lord’s Kingdom.

In 2021, I am going to try to do more overseas, staying for an extended period of time. If you can help and would like to be a part of this work, please send your contributions to:

Grubb Mission Fund, P.O. Box 7450, Chestnut Mountain, GA 30502.

Thirty-Eight Years Ago

In December 1982, my family and I began our journey to ten years of work in Taiwan. It also led to now, thirty-eight years working among the Chinese and Asian people.

It was thirty-eight years ago that I first met brother and sister Kwan. For the past thirty-eight years, our paths have crossed many, many times. We still have the privilege to work together in helping to spread the gospel in Asia. Even during the year of the covid, brother Kwan has continued to use the internet platform to preach and teach the gospel throughout Asia. We continue to be thankful for the good work brother and sister Kwan accomplish in the Kingdom.

Note what I wrote about learning the Chinese language those many years ago:

“Probably my greatest concern in our coming to Taiwan was whether or not I could learn the language. Already we are using very simple Chinese words and phrases:  I can say thanks, thank you, how are you, so-so, you are too kind, I like it very much, O.K., very good, you’re welcome, good morning, slowly it will come, yes, no, I don’t want any, how much, I don’t understand, and goodbye. The way that you learn a language is to use it, use it, use it. You also have to be willing to be laughed at. It is just like a baby trying his first words. They will not sound like they should. We will start language school in January. This is when we will really begin to learn the language, and learn it right.”

Thirty-eight years later I am now learning another new language – Indonesian. Thanks to my wife, Eta, for her help in teaching me this new language.
