December – The Last Month of the Year

We were off to a good start for the month of December. After getting out of quarantine on the 28th of November, the first major event of the month of December was taking part in the annual Taichung, Taiwan Chinese Lectureship. Seven lessons were delivered over the three-day event. Two of the lessons were delivered at the church building in Taichung. The remaining five lessons were presented on the internet. There were more than fifty people in person or online to attend this lectureship.

Thanks to the local preacher, John Yo, and his wife, Michelle, for all of their hard work involved in this effort. The planning for the lectureship for 2022 is already in the planning stages. In 2022, the lectureship will be December 2-4 on the theme of the “Seven Churches of Asia.” We are hoping it can be done in person, but we will have to wait and see.

Regular Classes and Worship

As you know, because of covid, all of the Asian countries where I would travel to teach and preach are still closed. However, we are thankful for the internet which allows us to continue to have a part in Bible study and worship services in Singapore, Malaysia, and Taiwan. In the new year, I will also have the opportunity to speak to the brethren at the Church St. congregation in the city of Melbourne, Australia. This will also be through an internet platform. As interest continues, I will take part in online Bible study with the Subang Jaya congregation in Malaysia, as well as the Section 17 congregation there as well. I have the privilege to take part in both English and Chinese services.

In addition, I still take part in the weekly chapel services at Four Seas College (Chinese Department). Even though I am not currently teaching a course there, I am in preparation to begin teaching “Church History” the middle of February. I am currently preparing my bi-lingual PowerPoint charts that I will use in the class. I use both English and Chinese on the charts to enable some who speak Chinese but do not read it well to be able to follow the notes. It takes me a great deal of time to prepare these charts.

On January 22nd, Four Seas College, Chinese Department, will conduct a morning workshop with three speakers. The workshop will be conducted in Chinese and will be from 9 am to 1 pm (Jan. 21st, 8 pm – midnight – Eastern Standard Time). It will be conducted on Zoom – 2021030111, Password: 392766.

During the month of January, I will be re-applying for my Indonesian visa. Especially in light of covid, it is very important that I keep my visa current. It is the only way that I can continue to travel back to my Asian base.

Eta and I are scheduled to return to the USA on Feb. 10th. We will be in the states until April 20th. We are looking forward to visiting with many of our brethren during that time.
