Subject: Brett

Dear brethren,

Thank you so much for your outpouring of care and concern on behalf of
my brother and my family. He is still two weeks away from his second
biopsy. As of this time we still have no answers concerning the nature
of his brain tumor. Additional complications have arisen while he is
waiting for the second biopsy, but he seems to have stabilized as of
last report.

Many of you have contributed money to assist my parents in flying over
to Tasmania to visit with my brother. Words cannot express how much we
appreciate what you have done. Enough funds have been raised to
purchase their airfare and they will be leaving soon.

More funds than needed for their airfare have been given. These will be
used to help Brett and his family with their additional expenses.
Enough has been given to cover their additional expenses through the
next few months. For this reason we are no longer requesting financial
help for my brother. However, we continue to ask for prayers on his
behalf.

The treasurer here has kept a record of the names and addresses of those
who have given money for Brett. Those will be sent to my parents who
will develop a full financial report after their return home. That
report will be sent to the church here and will be available for any who
request it.

I thank God for you, your generosity, and your prayers. May God bless
you as you labor in the kingdom.

Kevin Rutherford

FOOT UPDATE

I had out-patient surgery on my right foot on February 11th. I had the stitches taken out on March 3rd. I wore the air cast until April 3rd. When I went to the doctor on the 3rd, the doctor looked at the X-ray and my foot and said, “I think it is time to get you out of that boot!” Happy news! I am back in regular shoes and have started back to my walking routine.

Thanks to all of you for continuing to pray for my full recovery. I have received many cards and nice comments. I have also had brethren contribute to the out of pocket cost for this injury. Compared to what so many other brethren are facing in their lives, this was just a small inconvenience. JMG.

Fishers of Men Training Class -
Final Comments

On January 13th, we started a Fishers of Men Training Class conducted at the Chestnut Mountain Church of Christ. There were three new students enrolled for the class. I also allowed some of our students from the last class to attend to be encouraged in continuing in their teaching efforts. This class continued through March 24th. Please pray much good will result because of the efforts made in this class.

We continue to have a monthly evangelism meeting to encourage each other to continue using our abilities to reach the lost.

News and Letters from Around the World

DEVONPORT, TASMANIA (AUSTRALIA): Recently, Brett Rutherford was diagnosed with some tumors on his brain. He has had a biopsy, but they still do not know if they are cancerous or not and they done further tests and may send him home from the hospital until they decide further treatments. Please keep him and his family in your prayers. If you are my friend on Facebook, I post the lastest updates on Brett and his family there.

There is an effort underway to raise funds to enable his parents, Rod and Brenda Rutherford, to travel to Tasmania to assist the family. If anyone is interested in contributing they can write a check out to the West End Church of Christ.  On the memo line write, “Brett Rutherford.”  The address for the church is: West End Church of Christ, 3815 South Old Highway 94, Saint Charles, MO 63304. If you have questions you can e-mail Kevin Rutherford at his email address: kevin.rutherford@charter.net.  You may also call him at 314-680-8457.  If you want to reach the church there you may contact the church at 636-498-4600 or wecoc@sbcglobal.net.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give. (NOTE: The funds for the Rutherford’s trip to Tasmania has been obtained. Any additional funds will be given to the family for any expenses during this difficult time.  JMG).

GOSPEL MEETING: It was a joy to be able to attend the New Hope Road Gospel Meeting during the month of March to hear Rod Rutherford preach in a series of lessons. It was good to see Rod again.

GARDEN CITY, MI: “Hope you are healing good. God bless you for the work you do for our Lord” – Sharron and Michael Boyagian. (NOTE: This is one of many notes I have received in the past few months. Thanks so much. JMG.)
